DIRECTOR

As a highly experienced practitioner of musical theatre, Russell’s skills have often lead to him being engaged as a director.  

He most recently directed Mary Poppins for the Amici Trust at Auckland’s prestigious Civic Theatre. This production was labelled by the international publication ‘Broadway World’ as the largest production in the world (during its season) due to the global impact of COVID-19.  

 
In 2020, he also directed the production Holiday Inn at the Court Theatre for the graduating students at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts (NASDA) in Christchurch. 

Other directorial credits include Wicked for Tauranga Musical Theatre, Blood Brothers for Taieri Musical Society in Dunedin, Mamma Mia in Tauranga, Oamaru and in Auckland, at the Bruce Mason Centre. Many of these shows won numerous awards including Best Director and Best Overall production.
